Kishtwar, Nov 28, 2024: The District Police Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir has successfully attached the properties of seven absconding terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Pakistan, as part of a concerted effort to curb terror activities in the region.
In a press release, SSP Kishtwar, Javaid Iqbal Mir, stated that the property attachments followed a thorough investigation and intelligence inputs. The legal proceedings were initiated after the registration of FIR No. 272/2022, under sections 120-B, 121-A IPC, and 13, 18, 39 of UAPA at Police Station Kishtwar. The investigation was carried out by Dy SP Vishal Sharma, the Chief Investigating Officer, and was presented before the NIA Special Court, Doda.
Earlier, the NIA Court had declared 36 terrorists from Kishtwar, operating from PoJK and Pakistan, as absconders. Among them, the properties of seven terrorists were identified for attachment under legal proceedings. After reviewing the evidence, NIA Special Court Judge Sudesh Sharma issued orders for property attachment under Section 83 CrPC, vide order No. 757-59/FTC/D/NIA, dated November 27, 2024.
Following the NIA Court’s directive, SSP Kishtwar formed a special team, comprising senior officers and executive magistrates, to execute the orders. The attached properties have been marked with signboards to inform the general public about the actions taken.
ADGP Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, revealed that properties of 29 additional absconding terrorists have also been identified, with the attachment process underway. This move is part of the ongoing strategy to dismantle the terror ecosystem and prevent the use of assets to fund or support anti-national activities.
ADGP Jammu issued a strong warning, stating that individuals harboring anti-national elements or supporting terrorism will face severe consequences. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activities.
