SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Valley experienced a mild earthquake on Wednesday afternoon, with tremors reported at around 1:35 pm. According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake had a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was located in the Srinagar district. The coordinates were recorded at latitude 34.20°N and longitude 74.93°E, with a depth of 10 kilometers.
The tremors were felt in Srinagar and surrounding areas for a few seconds, but there have been no reports of casualties or damage to property. The region’s residents experienced a brief but noticeable shake, but the earthquake was considered light in intensity.
