    CEC Gyalson distributes e-cycles to beneficiaries under subsidy scheme

    Leh: The Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, distributed e-cycles to beneficiaries at the District Motor Garages, Leh, under the LAHDC Subsidy Scheme.

    Deputy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve; Deputy Director, Motor Garages Leh; CCF, LAHDC Leh; along with other district officers and beneficiaries, were present during the distribution ceremony.

    The Hon’ble CEC, along with other dignitaries, flagged off the e-cycles and school buses as part of the event.

    The Hon’ble CEC highlighted that this initiative will help protect Ladakh from pollution and bring environmental benefits to the region. He urged residents to adopt cycling as a mode of transportation to reduce carbon footprints and improve health benefits.  He siad that the objective behind this distribution is to work towards making Ladakh a carbon-neutral region.

    The Hon’ble CEC added that the LAHDC’s scheme is aimed at safeguarding the environment and mitigating climate change. He encouraged Ladakhis to pledge their support for environmental conservation and to contribute to this initiative, which is a step toward achieving a Carbon Neutral Ladakh.

    Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, stated that the scheme promotes environmental sustainability, offers health benefits, and helps reduce traffic congestion. He explained that LAHDC provides a subsidy for e-cycles, with the amount varying based on the cost of the cycle. He siad that over 100 e-cycles have been distributed this year under the LAHDC Leh’s subsidy scheme, at the cost of 25 lakh rupees.
