Srinagar: A gunfight between security forces and terrorists began in the Nagmarg forest area of north Kashmir on Tuesday morning, officials said. The gunfight started after joint teams of security forces launched a search operation in the area. According to officials speaking to news agency, the encounter started when the security forces approached a suspected location. As the search party moved closer, the terrorists opened fire, prompting the forces to retaliate, leading to an ongoing exchange of fire.
The intermittent firing continued as of the latest updates, with the area being cordoned off as security forces intensify their operation.
This marks the fifth gunfight in North Kashmir in recent days, following similar clashes in Bandipora, Kupwara, and Sopore areas.
