Rajouri, Nov 06: The apathetic approach of the Public Works Department (PWD) coupled with corrupt practices within the department has allegedly led to deterioration of roads and wastage of public money.
According to a local whistleblower, the Public Works Department (PWD) engineers in the Sunderbani subdivision, are allegedly involved in rampant corruption and neglect, leading to the deteriorating condition of roads.
“All roads under PWD in the area are in a deplorable state, making them unsuitable for public use. The engineers, both junior and senior, are ignoring their responsibilities while lining their pockets,” whistleblower asserted, alleging collusion between PWD staff and contractors.
Specific roads, some left incomplete for over six months, have reportedly suffered significant damage.
The whistleblower emphasized that while road conditions worsen, the personal fortunes of the engineers appear to thrive, citing luxury homes and substantial bank balances.
“An anti-corruption bureau must scrutinize these individuals. The financial records of these engineers, especially their property acquisitions in multiple locations, should be examined,” the whistleblower urged.
