    It is intriguing that despite Jammu division being entangled with complications regarding the extraordinary spread of dengue virus touching nearly 2000 mark, the authorities concerned have been moving with a tardy pace. The indifference of the officials of JMC and the Health Department by simply going through the subtle approach adopted by these stakeholders in Jammu and the cities and towns falling in its periphery.

    Taking the case of Jammu city only, which is worst affected by this disease, the JMC’s initiatives to curb the spread of this vector borne disease are merely namesake because the seriousness is missing on ground.

    As it is well known fact as far as dengue is concerned that precautions are better than cure, but the reality is that the stakeholders including the civic bodies have not done their homework meticulously leading to far and wide traversing of this disease which is fatal in some cases especially those involving co-morbidities.

    Still there is time for the government agencies to become proactive and work with complete synergy to contain this dangerous disease and help the population to get rid of hardships emanating out of this ailment coming to existence through the mosquito bites. It is astonishing that despite funds and advancements in dengue research, this endemic is fast spreading in Jammu Division making things precarious because it often leads to severe illness. All said and done, the best way to prevent dengue fever is to take steps to avoid mosquito bites.

    Till date, there is no cure for dengue fever like the coronavirus however, early recognition and treatment can help manage symptoms and prevent fatalities, therefore making it necessary for one and all to go for tests as soon as possible after having fever during the current times as time is a significant factor in treating the disease which at times could be fatal.

    It is the time that the government, NGOs, common man and other entities should understand their responsibility and take care by following all the precautions to stay safe from this contagion having the potential to consume lives mercilessly.
