Budget 2024 Brings Relief for iPhone Fans As Apple Slashes Prices of Flagship Models
The Finance Minister’s announcement to reduce import duties on mobile phones in the recent Budget seems to have brought cheers to Apple customers in India. Apple has slashed prices of some of its premium iPhone 15 series after the budget proposal to lower basic customs duty from 20% to 15% on imported mobile phones.
The Cupertino major has reduced prices of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which are considered the marquee models in its lineup. The iPhone 15 Pro which was previously priced at Rs. 1,34,900 can now be purchased for Rs. 1,29,800 – a deduction of Rs. 5,100. The 256GB variant of the iPhone 15 Pro Max which retailed at Rs. 1,59,000 is now available for Rs. 1,54,000, meaning a Rs. 5,900 price cut.
However, the entry-level iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus saw only a nominal price drop of Rs. 300 each. The latest iPhone SE (2022) received the biggest price slash of Rs. 2,300, bringing its cost down to Rs. 47,600 from Rs. 49,900 previously. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 too witnessed a small Rs. 300 reduction in their retail prices.
With the duty relaxation making imports more affordable, it seems Apple wasted no time in passing on the benefits to customers, especially for the high-end iPhone 15 series driving maximum sales. The new pricing makes these premium smartphones much more accessible and could give the already thriving demand during the festive season an added boost. While the reductions may not match customer expectations completely, it is still appreciated to some extent in the current economic scenario.
