The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 tournament is all set to get underway from July 19th in Sri Lanka. A total of eight top Asian cricket teams will battle it out over a period of 10 days for the prestigious trophy.
The eight teams have been divided into two groups of four each. Group A consists of India, Nepal, Pakistan and United Arab Emirates. Group B features hosts Sri Lanka alongside Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand.
All the participating teams have announced their squads for the competition. India will be defending their title with Harmanpreet Kaur leading the charge. Their openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma will look to give the team strong starts. Neighbours Pakistan and UAE have also announced balanced squads under the captaincies of Nida Dar and Esha Oza respectively.
In Group B, Chamari Athapaththu will aim to guide Sri Lanka to success on home soil. Bangladesh star Nigar Sultana will hope to inspire her side after they finished runners-up in 2018. Malaysia and Thailand have also named promising squads under Winifred Duraisingam and Thipatcha Putthawong.
The round robin stage will see teams face each other once between July 19th to 24th. The top two sides from each group will then progress to the semi-finals scheduled for July 26th. The highly anticipated final will take place on July 28th at the scenic Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.

With top players in action, the tournament is expected to witness high voltage clashes and provide plenty of entertainment for the fans. It remains to be seen which team will emerge triumphant in the upcoming edition of Asia’s biggest Women’s T20 competition.
