Veteran Actor Shares Thoughts on Actor Responsibility
A respected veteran of the film industry recently shared his perspective on how celebrities can influence audiences, especially younger generations. Govind Namdev, known for memorable roles over several decades, feels that major stars need to consider the message promoted through the brands they endorse.
In a recent interview, Namdev reflected on his admiration for leading man Hrithik Roshan. However, seeing the actor promote pan masala and online gambling left him disappointed. ” Actors have the power to guide people, so they must be mindful of the examples set. When young fans see their idol promoting something, it can inspire them to try it as well”, he stated.
Namdev acknowledged his own regret over endorsing a similar product early in his career, before fully understanding an entertainer’s social duties. “If I could redo one decision, it would be that advertisement. Now I realize how endorsements can mislead people down the wrong path”, he remarked.
The experienced performer believes icons in the industry must prioritize upholding positive values. “Fans look up to stars and mimic their styles. So why encourage anything harmful, like addictive substances or risky behavior?”, he questioned. Namdev hopes creatives will exercise responsibility and not misdirect followers, especially the youth.
