“Vi follows Airtel, Jio with new tariff plans”

Telecom operator Vi has announced revised prepaid and postpaid plans with increased pricing, joining rivals Airtel and Jio. The new plans will be effective from July 4 but existing benefits will remain the same.

The cheapest 28-day prepaid pack from Vi has been raised to Rs. 199 from Rs. 179, offering 2GB data. Another popular 84-day pack offering 6GB data is now priced at Rs. 509, up from Rs. 459. Vi's popular 56-day pack providing 1.5GB daily data sees a rate hike to Rs. 579 from Rs. 479. Annual prepaid plans will also be dearer by Rs. 500.

On the postpaid front, Vi's Rs. 401 pack offering 50GB data and other benefits will cost Rs. 451 from now. The Rs. 501 pack offering 90GB data has been revised to Rs. 551. Family postpaid plans for 2 and 4 connections also see hikes of Rs. 100 and Rs. 200 respectively.

All revised plans continue existing benefits and the unlimited data incentive between 12am-6am on postpaid and certain prepaid packs. The lone listed purpose of Vi's tariff revision is to ease the burden of rising operational costs and improve overall sector viability.

While Jio and Airtel have also launched bundled 5G plans, Vi customers will have to wait longer as the operator is yet to roll out high-speed 5G services pan-. Subscribers will hope that Vi's tariff increase is followed by timely investments to bolster its network capabilities.
