Srinagar, Sept 04: At least seven labourers from Tulail, Bandipora, are feared dead after a massive landslide struck Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, officials said.
According to officials, all the victims were working as labourers when the landslide triggered the collapse of two houses in the area. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) confirmed that around 12–13 persons were feared trapped under the debris.
“An NDRF team carried out collapsed structure search and rescue (CSSR) operations, rescuing three injured persons and recovering one body. The search is still underway to trace the remaining victims,” the NDRF posted on X.
Authorities said rescue teams, including local administration and disaster response personnel, are working round the clock despite challenging conditions.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Office expressed deep grief over the incident. In a post on X, it assured that all possible assistance would be extended to the affected families.
The landslide adds to the growing concerns over frequent natural disasters in hilly states, which have caused heavy loss of lives and property in recent months.
