Srinagar, Oct 14: Two unidentified terrorists were killed as the Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Tuesday.
According to defence sources, troops detected suspicious movement near the LoC in the Machhal sector late Monday night. When challenged, the infiltrators opened fire, prompting a swift retaliation from the soldiers.
“Based on specific intelligence inputs from J&K Police and corroborated by other agencies, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and J&K Police in Machhal Sector on October 13,” the Army’s Chinar Corps stated in a post on X.
During the exchange, two terrorists were neutralised, and a large cache of weapons and equipment was recovered from the encounter site.
The operation was still underway when reports last came in, officials added. (Agencies)
