Jammu Tawi: In a historic achievement for Jammu and Kashmir cricket, 15 players from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) have been selected for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, marking the highest-ever representation from the region. The auction will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, 2024.
Among the players selected are Shubham Khajuria, the senior team’s batting mainstay, promising top-order batsman Musaif Ajaz, and talented left-arm seamer Mujtaba Yousuf. Other cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir included in the auction pool are Abdul Samad, Atif Bin Mushtaq, Avinash Singh, Nasir Lone, Abid Mushtaq, Vivrant Sharma, Kunal Chib, Umran Malik, Murgan Ashwin, Yudhveer Singh Charak, Rasikh Salam, and Aquib Nabi.
This marks a record participation from JKCA, with 15 players set to go under the hammer. A total of 366 Indian players, including these 15, will be available for selection in the auction, where 134 players will be up for grabs.
The JKCA has extended its best wishes to all the players, hoping that they secure IPL contracts. “For those who missed the cut, there is always a next,” tweeted Brig Anil Gupta, wishing the players a successful future.
