Leh, Dec 9: A delegation of prominent women leaders from various religious organizations in Ladakh, including Kunzes Dolma Jawo (Ladakh Buddhist Association Women Wing), Nasreen Maryam (Anjuman Immamia Women Wing), Aisha Malo (Anjuman-e-Moin-ul-Islam), and Mrs. Racheal (Christian Association Women Wing), met with Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Adv. Tashi Gyalson on Monday.
The delegation expressed deep gratitude to CEC Gyalson for his unwavering support in securing 33% reservation for women’s representation in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC). The leaders commended Gyalson for fulfilling his earlier commitment made on International Women’s Day and for taking meaningful steps toward empowering women in the region.
The women leaders also extended thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Home Minister, and the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh for their endorsement and support of the reservation policy.
During the meeting, the delegation urged CEC Gyalson to expedite the implementation of this historic decision to ensure timely benefits for women in Ladakh. They emphasized the importance of the reservation in strengthening women’s roles in both political and social spheres and ensuring gender equality in local governance.
