New Delhi, Jan 30: Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli’s Instagram account was restored on Friday morning after it mysteriously disappeared overnight, triggering widespread confusion and speculation among his 274 million followers.
There was no official word from Kohli or his management on whether the temporary disappearance was intentional or the result of a technical glitch. The sudden blackout sparked intense chatter on social media, with fans expressing concern, curiosity and humour through posts and memes.
Around the same time, the Instagram account of Kohli’s brother, Vikas Kohli, was also found deactivated. While Virat Kohli’s profile was reinstated by morning, his brother’s account remained inactive at the time of filing this report.
Kohli, who is currently active only in One-Day Internationals, remains one of the most prolific run-scorers in the history of international cricket. He has amassed 28,215 international runs at an impressive average of 52.73, including 85 centuries.
Recently, Kohli overtook Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-getter in international cricket, trailing only Sachin Tendulkar, who leads the chart with 34,357 runs. Kohli also stands second in the list of most international centuries, behind Tendulkar’s record 100 hundreds. (Agencies)
