Venue for Governor's ‘At Home' changed

Because of the rain since last night and forecast of a downpour tomorrow, the Governor's Republic Day celebration “At Home”, which was scheduled to be held at Raj Bhawan, Jammu, on January 26 at 4 pm, will now be held at the Convention Centre, near Indira Cinema, Canal Road (Talab Tillo), Jammu, and not at the Banquet Hall, CM's Residence, Wazarat Raod, as was mentioned in the invitation cards.

The Raj Bhawan spokesman has requested all invitees to the “At Home” to note the change in the venue and expressed apology for the inconvenience caused due to unforeseen circumstances.

State's achievers invited

Governor NN Vohra has invited J&K's outstanding achievers for the Republic Day celebration “At Home” function which will be held at the Convention Centre, Jammu. There will be a separate enclosure for the achievers at the function.

The achievers invited are Chain Singh, expert marksman, J&K's first Olympian; Tajamul Islam, gold medallist, Kick Boxing Championship; Meenal Gupta, under 14th Commonwealth chess champion; Rakshak Jandiyal, second Asian Rollball Championship (gold medallist ); Master Hashim Mansoor, gold in Asian Youth Karate Championship; Garvita Gupta, silver medallist in second Asian Rollball Championship; Rajinder Singh, silver medallist in ninth Asian Wushu Championship; Ankita Chopra, silver medallist in second Asian Rollball Championship; Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh, silver medallist in World Master's Challenge eighth Wushu Sanda World Cup; Chandeep Singh, specially-abled skater, bronze in the Skating Championship.

The special invitees include Lt Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal, who conquered over 20 peaks; Parvez Rasool, cricketer, Tsering Angmo, Tashi Laskit, Rigzin Dolkar and Stanzin Laskit, who scaled World's highest peak Mount Everest; Zaira Khan, actress; Aman Dogra, who participated in Asian Youth Sport Climbing Competition; Tarun Gandotra, who participated in World Inline Hockey Championship; Dhananjay Singh Charak, who participated in eighth World Body Building and Physique Championship; Sahil Gupta, who participated in Asian Roller Hockey Championship; Vansh Mahajan, who participated in Thailand and Hong Kong Open Fencing Championships; and Mohammad Akbar Khan, champion cyclist.
