UT, Dist-level panels on road safety setup


Srinagar, Jun 06: The government on Monday ordered the constitution of UT level monitoring committee and appraisal committee at the district level for implementation of a scheme of financial assistance for administering road safety advocacy and awards of outstanding work in the field of road safety.

“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a UT Level Monitoring Committee and Appraisal Committee at the District Level, comprising the following, for implementation of Scheme of Financial Assistance for Administering Road Safety Advocacy and Awards for the outstanding work in the field of Road Safety” reads the order.

As per order, Administrative Secretary Home Department will be chairman of the UT level committee while as Administrative Secretary, & Medical Department, Administrative Secretary, Transport Department and Additional Director General of Traffic, Police will be members of the committee besides that Transport Commissioner JK/Commissioner Road Safety will be member secretary of the committee.

“The UT level Monitoring committee shall quarterly review and monitor the implementation of the scheme,” it added.
