Itanagar, Mar 21: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has poured cold water on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's recent ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra', asserting that it will have zero impact on BJP's electoral prospects in the upcoming general elections. Speaking to sources, the Minister of Earth Sciences and Food Processing Industries dismissed any notion that the over 6700 km journey undertaken by Rahul Gandhi from January to March could dent the ruling party.
Rijiju was scathing in his assessment of Rahul Gandhi, claiming the BJP will only gain from his campaigning as “wherever he goes, Congress is sure to lose”. Taking a jibe, he suggested the opposition party may have a better chance if Gandhi decides to stay off the campaign trail. The Minister launched a stinging personal attack on Gandhi, alleging he harbours “deep-seated animosity and hatred” for PM Modi stemming from his humble origins.
With confidence bordering on arrogance, Rijiju projected a massive victory for the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, predicting the party will surpass 370 seats on its own. He went so far as to say the National Democratic Alliance headed by BJP will bag over 400 seats, ensuring a clear majority. Coming to his home state of Arunachal Pradesh, Rijiju was equally bullish about BJP sweeping the simultaneous assembly elections by winning 55 of the total 60 seats.
In his no-holds-barred criticism of Rahul Gandhi, Rijiju pointed to past court warnings over his “loose comments” and labelled him a “habitual offender”. His parting shot questioned whether the negativity and personal attacks directed at Modi reflect well on Gandhi's own mental and physical well-being. With polls just weeks away, the Minister's dismissive remarks have poured scorn on Congress' high-profile cross-country unity march.
