    Timeline please promises?

It is not fair that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is not moving forward to fulfill promises made by his party in the run up to Assembly Elections in J&K. Those leading the UT must remember that they have been given mandate by the people by considering the promises which they have made and therefore not fulfilling the same can prove detrimental for their outfits as their government’s tenure is fixed, and the time is running out of the hands.

It is pertinent to mention that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has stated the National Conference government is promise-bound to implement all its election promises including giving 200 units of free electricity to all households falling under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) category but still the man leading the UT has not given the timeline about when these promises will be fulfilled making things to remain elusive. As already much time has been lost and the CM and his colleagues are trying to convince the people by again and again reassuring that they will fulfill the promises with no concrete steps visible on ground, it is likely that party in power may face backlash in coming time as apparently the policy deficit seems to be behind the delay in fulfillment of aforesaid promises.

Take the example of a promise to provide 200 units of free electricity, more the delay in implementing the same on ground lesser will be the benefit given to probable beneficiaries thus killing the very purpose of providing succour to the needy. As the government tenure is fixed and no one can predict and assure that the next government will continue with this freebie as there are parties opposing this culture out rightly. It is therefore necessary for the Omar Abdullah led NC Government in J&K to pace up efforts and fulfil promises as soon as possible or else the delay or denial can dent his party’s interests in the coming time as people have many options before them. Today it is not possible to change stance after committing a thing before the electorate because social media has made things transparent and leaders accountable as never before.
