Talk to Pak, separatists for vote bank: Abdullahs

Tawi, December 18: Abdullahs, both the father and son have been advocating with New Delhi to resume talks with Pakistan, Farooq Abdullah has gone ahead of suggesting to the centre
    to resume talks with separatists.

A few months ago Farooq is on record to have suggested to New
Delhi to ignore separatists and hold talks with Pakistan. This way the
father-son duo are trying to keep their party vote bank intact.

Though the BJP led central government will not allow the coalition Government to fall despite prolonged violence and series of ceasefire violations by Pakistan and its support to militants to sneak
into and hence there does not seem any possibility of an early poll.

But Farooq wants to woo the separatists and Pakistan in order to help the Conference to stage a win in the next election. He knows it better than anybody else that the PDP and the BJP are on the verge of decline, especially the BJP and he wants to reap its benefit.
And that benefit may be achieved if he keeps the separatists and Pakistan in good humour.
He does not remember that in 2014 Assembly election and 2015 Lok
Sabha elections the separatists had called for boycott of the polls
but both the elections witnessed heavy polling. Yes, by triggering
violence after the killing of self-styled militant commander, Burhan Wani,
separatists have  strengthened their base among  the people which is
evident from the way people responded to their repeated calls for

But is not prepared to reopen the channels of dialogue
with Pakistan unless Islamabad stop using its soil for exporting
terror to India. India has made it clear several times and so far
there has been no response and the situation has become tense after
the Pakistani troops have resorted to frequent ceasefire
