In an inspiring performance, 13-year old Indian shuttler Tanvi Patri clinched gold at the Badminton Asia U-15 Championships held recently in Chengdu, China. Top seed Tanvi defeated second seeded Vietnam's Thi Thi Huyen Nguyen in the summit clash to win the prestigious title.
The final was a closely fought affair with both shuttlers engaged in exciting rallies. Tanvi got off to a sluggish start and found herself trailing 11-17 in the opening game. The rhythm and confidence that Tanvi exuded was too much for her opponent to handle. She wrapped up the match 21-11 to be crowned champion.
With this breakthrough performance, Tanvi etched her name in the history books by becoming only the third Indian to win this title.
