Sunderbani, November 23: The main chowk of Sunderbani town on the Jammu-Rajouri highway has become a daily headache for residents, commuters, and shopkeepers.

Severe traffic congestion, during peak hours, that stuck people routinely for one to two hours almost every day.

Local residents and traders have openly accused the Jammu Kashmir Traffic Police of gross negligence.

They alleged that traffic personnel deployed at the chowk hardly perform their duties properly.

“Most of the on-duty officers remain engrossed in their mobile phones, allowing traffic violators and passenger vehicles to park haphazardly, further worsening the chaos,” claimed locals, adding, “Every morning and evening, the jam is so bad that customers can’t reach out shops and we can’t even bring goods. Traffic Police personnel are present, but they stay busy on their phones. No one actively tries to clear the traffic.”

Another commuter added, “It takes nearly two hours just to drop children to school. Passenger buses, autos, and private vehicles block the road without fear because no one stops them.”

They demanded that traffic Police and administration should play proactive role in bringing permanent solution to this menace.
