‘Positive reports more than double in one month’

Amid apprehensions of third wave of Covid-19 and scare of its new variant, the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has witnessed a sharp rise in corona positive cases in the last around one month besides a little increase in the number of deaths also.
Keeping in view the upward trend of corona positive cases, the J&K government has sounded alert and has ordered resumption of 500 bedded DRDO Hospital at Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu. The staff earlier reverted to their parent hospitals has also been recalled.
The Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehata, yesterday, chaired a meeting of Covid-19 task force to preparedness with regards to the situation.
The government has also directed universal RTPCR testing of foreign travellers to avert the situation from becoming worse.
As per the official figures, the number of corona positive cases has almost doubled in the last around one month in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
Since mid of October last month the number of corona positive cases in J&K has more than doubled with Kashmir region being at top in terms of positive cases.
As per the official figures, a total of 93 people tested positive for Covid-19 in J&K, 72 in Kashmir while 21 people tested positive in Jammu region on October 15. In a sharp contrast, 193 people tested positive for Covid-19 on November 20 with 170 positive cases from Kashmir region and 23 positive cases from Jammu region.
On 20th of last month, 84 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the UT of J&K, 72 from Kashmir and 12 from Jammu region. However, in sharp contrast, 187 people were tested positive on November 21st this month in J&K.
Out of these, 163 positive cases were reported from Kashmir region, while Jammu region accounted for 24 positive cases.
Similarly, on October 23rd, 108 positive cases were reported from J&K. Out of these, 87 positive were from Kashmir region, while Jammu region reported 21 positive cases.
As compared to this, 179 people tested positive for Covid-19 on November 24th in J&K. Out of these, 149 people tested positive in Kashmir, while 30 positive cases were reported from Jammu region.
Similarly, on 25th of October, a total of 72 positive cases were reported in J&K. Out of these 62 were from Kashmir, while 10 positive cases were reported from Jammu region.
Alarmingly, on 25th of this month, a total of 174 Covid-19 positive cases were reported from J&K. Out of these, 149 positive cases were reported from Kashmir region, while Jammu region accounted for 25 positive cases.
As compared to this, on 26th of last month, a total of 60 positive cases in J&K were reported from J&K, with 51 from Kashmir and 9 from Jammu region.
