Katra: The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Skill Hub Centre has launched a Two-Month Training Program on Basic Soft Skills for Unemployed Youth, aiming to enhance the employability and personal growth of local youth. The initiative is part of SMVDU’s University Social Responsibility (USR) program and is open to unemployed individuals with a minimum qualification of 10th grade. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate, along with job placement assistance.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar of SMVDU, Prof. Balbir Singh, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Yatheshth Anand, HOD of the School of Mechanical Engineering at SMVDU. The dignitaries emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering skill development and uplifting the local community.
The Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof. Pragati Kumar, praised the initiative as a reflection of the university’s commitment to empowering youth and promoting societal progress. He expressed confidence that the program would significantly boost participants’ employability and personal growth.
The program is coordinated by Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the SMVDU Skill Hub Centre, who outlined the program’s objectives and the university’s ongoing community service efforts. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Er. Deepak Byotra, Superintendent of the Central Workshop, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, and university staff for their support in making the event a success.
