Jammu Tawi, August 27: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu will hold a two-day Regional Conference on Specialty Agriculture in the Context of Farm economy of the Himalayan Region on September 21 & 22 at the Main Campus, Chatha. The conference is expected to be attended by renowned agricultural economists and scientists. In this regard, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Prof. J. P. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu to review the preparations for the event. Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, during his deliberation, congratulated the Organizing Secretary, Prof. Jyoti Kachroo for conducting the very important event of the present era. He emphasized the role of speciality agriculture in the growing economy of India. He sought active participation and deliberations on important themes of the conference from research scientists, students, industry experts, and start-ups from prestigious organizations in the country.
Prof. Sharma informed that one session will be exclusively kept for Farmer-Student-Startups-Scientist interaction so that all the agriculture stakeholders will be on the same platform to discuss the issues and challenges. Organising secretary of the conference, Prof. Jyoti Kachroo, Head, Agricultural Economics and ABM and Director (P&M) said that the event will provide a platform for scientists, academicians, students industry representatives, and policymakers to discuss the speciality agriculture research and policies in the Jammu and Kashmir UT and at National level.
The conference is being organised by the Division of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Management of SKUAST-Jammu in collaboration with the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics, Mumbai. The two-day event will be held at Baba Jitto Auditorium at SKUAST-Jammu, Chatha. The meeting was attended by Prof. Pradeep Wali Director of Research, Prof. R.K. Nanda Director of Education, Prof. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean FBSc, Sh. Madan Lal, Comptroller, Sh. Iqbal Singh, Estates Office, Prof. Sushil Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Dr. Rajesh Katoch, DSW, Prof A K Sharma, University Librarian, other officers and event organising committee members from SKUAST-Jammu.
