, Nov 03: To secure a place for the Paris Olympics Shivani Charak of J&K, a top ranked sport climber of , who brought laurels to our UT by becoming the first female athlete of J&K to compete in the Asian Games (19 th Asian Games, Hangzhou, China) during the last 75 years, shall compete in the Asian Qualifier at Indonesia, in which four Olympic Quota places in Sport Climbing shall be up for grabs for the Paris Olympics-2024.

To prepare herself for performing to her full potential in the Asian Qualifier to be held at Indonesia from November nine, Shivani left today for Delhi to hone her skill and stamina on standard climbing walls.

“Since Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), the apex body for sport climbing in the country, is not sponsoring any climber for the event Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK) has decided to manage sponsorship of our own climber Shivani Charak, the pride of J&K, for the Olympic Qualifying event so as to give her an opportunity to prove her mettle at the global level,” informed senior vice president MAJK, Ram Khajuria. It is pertinent to mention here that it is exclusively a testament to her dedication, grit, hard work and will power that Shivani could rise to the global level despite lack of proper climbing infrastructure in our Union Territory.

Meanwhile, before her departure for Delhi, Shivani called upon the general secretary of MAJK, Shawetica Khajuria who assured her all possible help regarding her preparation for the international competitions. Principal Apple Kids International Pre School, Bantalab Arti Sharma and Seema Sharma, Director of Sprawling Buds ICSC School were also present on the occasion. All of them wished good luck to Shivani for success at the Olympic Qualifying event.
