JAMMU, Jan 11: Dense fog and poor visibility disrupted flight operations at Jammu Airport on Sunday morning, leading to delays of at least seven flights, officials said.
According to airport authorities, adverse weather conditions affected several outbound flights, including services from Jammu to Delhi, Indore and Ahmedabad. Two flights operating on the Jammu–Srinagar sector were also delayed, while two flights bound for Leh faced similar disruptions due to low visibility.
Officials said thick fog significantly reduced visibility levels at the airport, making it unsafe to carry out scheduled departures. As a precautionary measure, flights were held back until weather conditions showed signs of improvement.
Passengers were seen waiting inside the terminal building as airlines revised their schedules in response to the prevailing conditions. Airport officials said flight operations are expected to gradually normalise later in the day once visibility improves.
The Jammu Airport Authority has advised passengers to remain in touch with their respective airlines for real-time updates on flight timings, particularly during the winter season when fog frequently affects air services in the region.
