Rs. 250 Cr Solar Power Projects for Leh, Kargil

Srinagar, June 17: Congress MLA, Rinzing Zora sought government's response over the establishment of the solar power plants in and which was proposed by the erstwhile government.

“Earlier the former Union Minister for Renewable Energy Resources Farooq Abdullah has signed MoU with regards to the establishment of the solarpower plant at Kargil and Leh. But the problem is that the strength of these power plants has been reduced to 20 MW,” he said.

In reply the Finance Minister said that harnessing of solar energy has been one among the prime concern of the state government.

“Rs. 250 crore has been kept for two Solarpilot projects of 20 MW each in Leh and Kargil, Rs. 100 crore for solar off-grid Home System / Street lights, Rs. 2000 small hydro-preparation of DPRs and implementations / installations of SHP projects,” he said.
