Jammu Tawi, Feb 22: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Singh Choudhary on Saturday called upon Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat to take stringent action against identified criminals in Jammu, emphasizing the need to restore public confidence in law enforcement.
Expressing concern over the surge in gang wars, murders, and other criminal activities in Jammu district, Choudhary urged the police to intensify their crackdown on criminal elements.
“It is unfortunate that gang wars, murders, and other crimes have escalated in Jammu. I urge the Lieutenant Governor and DGP J&K Police to intervene and take strict action against those disrupting public order,” he told reporters, as per KINS.
He stressed that law enforcement agencies must tighten the noose around criminals, ensuring that peace prevails in the region. Highlighting the alarming rise in narcotics trade among youth, he called for urgent measures to curb this growing menace.
“The crime rate in Jammu has reached new heights, which is deeply concerning. I hope the Lieutenant Governor and DGP will act swiftly to bring criminals to justice,” he said.
Responding to questions about police inaction against identified criminals, Choudhary attributed the delay in justice to a few incompetent officers. He urged the J&K Police to rebuild public trust and take decisive action against those jeopardizing the safety of peace-loving citizens.(KINS)
