RBI Governor optimistic about growing global adoption of UPI digital transactions

    Date:

Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: In a recent visit to Odisha, Reserve Bank of Governor Shaktikanta Das expressed confidence that Unified Payments Interface (UPI) digital transactions will continue expanding internationally. The fast and easy UPI method is already being embraced by several other nations through QR code scanning and integration with their respective fast payment networks. Mr. Das told journalists that discussions are progressing with multiple countries interested in adopting this innovative Indian payment solution.

“UPI has found acceptance in many markets outside India, and we anticipate this global momentum will keep building in the coming years,” stated the central banker. Only a few days prior at an event in Mumbai, he elaborated on initial partnerships with nations like Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, the UAE, Mauritius, Namibia, Peru, France and others to enable RuPay card payments and UPI transactions. These collaborations show cooperative efforts to promote India's digital initiatives on a worldwide scale according to Governor Das.
