The start of the second Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was called off due to persistent heavy rainfall on Friday. No toss could be conducted as rain continued through the morning and conditions did not permit play to begin.
Both teams found themselves in the lower half of the WTC standings coming into this match. Bangladesh currently sit at seventh place while Pakistan are just above last ranked West Indies at eighth. The visitors created history in the first Test by defeating the hosts for the very first time since gaining Test status.
Pakistan made some changes to their bowling attack by leaving out premier fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi from this fixture. Head coach Jason Gillispie explained that the break would allow Shaheen to spend time with his family and work on further improving his game with bowling coach Azhar Mahmood. Gillispie remained confident in the balance of the side selected for this crucial game.
With more wet weather expected over the next few days, it remains to be seen if any play will be possible during this Test. Both teams will be hoping conditions improve to get some time in the middle as they look to gain crucial WTC points from this series.
