Srinagar, Mar 11: Rain lashed the plains of Jammu and Kashmir during the last 24 hours, while moderate snowfall was reported in several higher reaches of the Union Territory, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the Meteorological (MeT) Department, light to moderate rain and snowfall in the higher altitudes led to a drop in temperatures across the region.
“Light to moderate rain/snow (in higher reaches) occurred in J&K during the last 24 hours, while some higher reaches in Kishtwar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kupwara and Bandipora districts received moderate snowfall,” a MeT official said.
The department has forecast generally dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir till March 14.
However, cloudy conditions with the possibility of light rain and snowfall in higher reaches are likely between March 15 and March 20, the MeT Department said.
Meanwhile, the department has also advised farmers to suspend farm operations till March 12 in view of the prevailing weather conditions. (Agencies)
