    Punjab Police Crack Down on Cross-Border Drug Cartel, Nab Operatives with Over Rs 1 Crore in Cash

    The Punjab Police have disrupted an international drug trafficking syndicate by apprehending two members of the network with a sizable cash haul. According to reports, the State Special Operation Cell of Amritsar uncovered the interstate drug ring after a period of close monitoring and intelligence gathering.

    Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrested individuals were working on behalf of two drug kingpins based abroad. The masterminds were identified as Gurjant Singh alias ‘Bholu’ and Kinderjeet Singh alias ‘Sunny Dyal’, both of whom run criminal operations from outside of India. A case has been filed against the overseas handlers as well as the detained operatives for allegedly running an organized crime gang involved in illicit drug trade.

    During the bust, the police were able to recover over Rs 1.07 crore in suspected drug money. They also seized a money counting machine, a vehicle and two mobile phones from the possession of the apprehended gang members. DGP Yadav conveyed in a social media post that this was an intelligence-led action to dismantle the transnational narcotics supply chain.

    The Punjab Police have demonstrated their strong resolve to curb cross-border criminal syndicates through meticulous, evidence-based investigations. With another major supplier rooted out, it will certainly disrupt drug flows into Punjab and the wider region.
