“Prabhas’ magnum opus Kalki continues its record-breaking run at box office”
Prabhas starrer epic historical drama Kalki which was released three weeks ago continues to attract large crowds at the theatres. On its third Monday, the movie raked in Rs. 4.3 crores taking its total domestic collection to Rs. 584 crores.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki which also stars Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles has been praised for its grand production scale and performances. Even in its third week, the multi-starrer was able to surpass collections of other recent big-budget films like Animal and has now entered the list of highest grossing Indian films.
Meanwhile another much awaited film Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan hit the theatres last Friday. However, on its fourth day, Indian 2 saw a massive 79% drop in collections earning Rs. 3.15 crore compared to Kalki’s strong performance.
Kalki is now just Rs. 56 crores away from breaking another record by overtaking Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan’s lifetime collection of Rs. 640 crores. Trade analysts predict that if the film maintains its momentum, it could very well achieve this feat and cement Prabhas’ position as a true pan-India superstar.
Among the language versions, the Hindi version raked in Rs. 2.5 crore while the original Telugu collected Rs. 1.35 crore on the same day. The film has also crossed the 1000 crore mark globally. With no signs of slowing down, Kalki looks set for more milestones in the coming weeks.
