Jammu Tawi, July 4: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has purchased the first dry leaf compost bed from Jammu Municipal Corporation under SLRM (Solid Liquid Resource Management) Project. In a function held at Green Belt park, Muncipal Commissioner Jammu Mandeep Kour handed over the Compost bed to the General Manager(AM) of Powergrid , Northern Region –II R.V.S.Kushwaha. in presence of senior officers of Powergrid , JMC and C.Srinivasan, Project Director India Green Service (IGS), Vellore, Tamilnadu
SLRM Concept has been launched today in Jammu and the purchase of this compost bed was part of this Launch. Sh. C.Srinivasan who was responsible for popularising throughout the country what is now known as the ‘Vellore model' in SLRM explained that garbage collected under this project is segregated by a secondary process where the wet waste is turned into compost and the dry is segregated into different categories
R.V.S.Kushwaha, General Manager(AM), POWERGRID NR-II on this occasion handed over a cheque of Rs 30,000.00 (Thirty thousand) as the purchase cost of 6 tons of Compost bed.
Mandeep Kour appreciated and thanked POWERGRID for their support and forthcoming attitude in implementation of SLRM Project in Jammu.
R.V.S.Kushwaha requested Municipal commissioner to utilize this compost fertilizer in the areas of Jammu so that impact of this project can be appreciated by one and all.
Astt. Commissioner(R) Jammu Municipal Corporation, Subah Mehta, DGM(F) Powergrid B.Dash, Chief Manager(HR) R.Narayan were among the officials present on this occasion.
