POONCH, Jan 1: In a major crackdown on cross-border terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached an immovable property of a Pakistan-based terror handler and launch commander under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in Poonch district.
The attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 194/2024 registered at Police Station Gursai. The property, measuring 04 Marlas and 02 Sarsai of agricultural land, is located at Village Nar in the Nakka Majhari area of Mendhar tehsil, officials said.
The attached land belongs to Rafiq Nai alias Sultan, son of Mohd Afsar, a resident of the area who is presently operating from Pakistan as a handler and launch commander of the banned terror outfit Tahreek-ul-Mujahideen/Jammu Kashmir Ghaznavi Force.
Police said the accused is actively involved in supervising narcotics and weapons smuggling, facilitating infiltration of trained terrorists and reviving terrorist activities in the Poonch-Rajouri sector. He has been declared a “Designated Individual Terrorist” and is wanted in multiple serious criminal cases registered over the years under IPC, RPC, Arms Act and UAPA provisions.
The attachment was executed by a joint team of Police Station Mendhar and the Revenue Department after completing all legal formalities and obtaining approval from the competent authority. The market value of the attached property has been assessed at around ₹10 lakh.
Officials said the action is part of a sustained strategy to dismantle the financial and logistical support network of terrorist outfits operating in the region. District Police Poonch reiterated its commitment to act firmly against terrorism and activities threatening national security, assuring continued efforts to ensure peace and public safety. (KNC)
