Anantnag, Jan 12: Police on Friday arrested three members of a family and recovered a huge consignment of contraband substance from their possession in Anantnag district.
Anantnag Police received information through reliable sources that a family comprises Father, Mother and Son under a well-planned criminal conspiracy continuously indulging in illegal trade of illicit alcohol as well as of cannabis charas powder in Seer Hamdan Mattan area.
The trio was identified as Mohammad Ramzan Ganai, his wife Shahzada Akhter and son Zubair.
Police and reliable sources also revealed that the trio has concealed huge quantities of illicit alcohol as well as illicit cannabis charas powder in specially made hideouts in their residential house, Swift Dzire Car, Baleno car and Motorcycle.
A search team composed of Anantnag Police and Executive Magistrate concerned was constituted who carried out the search of the house. During which about 9.27 Kgs of Charas powder and 867 Bottles of illicit alcohol were seized on the spot.
All three accused persons were arrested and two vehicles and a KTM Motorcycle beside cash of Rs. 13325 was seized.
Further investigation in the instant case continues, police added.
A Case FIR No. 04/2024 U/S 8/20,29 NDPS act and 48,50 Excise Act was registered in Police Station Mattan, they added.
