PoJK DPs ‘chain dharna’ enters second day

, Dec 28

The indefinite ‘Chain Dharna', kick-started by S. O. S. – An Organization for PoJK Displaced Persons, today entered the second day. Led by Prof. N. N. Sharma, 5 other DPs sat on dharna to press for their demands. Sharma along with Rajiv Amla, Dharamvir Dutta, Rajesh Suri, Kesar Singh, Satinder Dev Gupta, protested against the cruel and discriminatory approach of Government during dealing with the issues of PoJK DPs who lost their everything during the tribal invasion in their erstwhile ancestral places. “Instead of rehabilitating and resolving the issues, PoJK DPs are being duped. PoJK DPs do not have their respective Parliamentary and Assembly representations, resulting in injustice to the community. Political parties pay no heed to our demands, as they have never raised our issues, but on the contrary, they exploited innocent DPs for their vested interests”, he added. Prof. Sharma further said that the demands and package of PoK DPs were hampered intentionally and deliberately only to appease a specific community that has been enjoying all sorts of benefits. “The package that was passed by State Cabinet in the year 2014, in which Rs 25 lakh per family, reservation to wards of PoK DPs in professional and technical colleges across the country, employment package for unemployed youths and others incorporated, has not been implemented in toto.” “Some components of the package don't even need any funding, and can be implemented by simply issuing orders to concerned departments. It is evident that the Government doesn't want to provide justice to us” he alleged. “For valley migrants, Government has opened its pandora box but it has shown the slavish facet while dealing with PoK DPs. Now we are forced to sit on fast unto death as we don't have any other option,” he said. Prof. Sharma further stated, “Government is not doing favour for us, as it is our constitutional right, and their civic and moral obligation to rehabilitate own people. There are people in Government bodies, who don't want us to get justice, moreover, they are putting every possible effort to hamper our packages and demands”, he added. He further appealed to PoK DPs living in State and other parts of country to extend their support to the organization so that ultimate goal can be achieved.
