New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from Guwahati in Assam on Friday, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Chouhan said the Prime Minister will transfer ₹18,640 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of about 9.32 crore farmers across the country.
He said that under the PM-KISAN scheme, more than ₹4.09 lakh crore has already been transferred to farmers so far. With the release of the upcoming instalment, the total amount disbursed under the scheme will exceed ₹4.27 lakh crore.
Highlighting agricultural growth in recent years, Chouhan said the country’s foodgrain production has increased from 252 million tonnes in 2014 to about 357 million tonnes in 2025.
He also noted significant growth in the horticulture sector, with production rising from 277 million tonnes to nearly 369 million tonnes during the same period. Production and productivity of fruits and vegetables have also seen steady growth, he added.
The minister further said the government has launched the first phase of an AI-based digital platform, Bharat Vistar, aimed at providing farmers with comprehensive information related to agricultural queries. The platform will allow farmers to access guidance through phone calls in their own languages. (Agenices)
