Prayagraj, Jan 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 on February 5, according to sources. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the Mela on January 27, and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is scheduled to participate in the celebrations on February 1.
Amit Shah’s visit will include taking a holy dip at the Sangam, performing Ganga Puja, and holding meetings with officials. In anticipation of his visit, security agencies have heightened vigilance, implementing special surveillance at key intersections and event venues across the city.
Vice President Dhankhar will also take a holy dip at the Sangam on February 1, while President Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit Prayagraj on February 10 to participate in major events. Preparations, both administrative and security-related, are being ramped up to ensure the smooth and secure visits of these dignitaries.
Despite dense fog earlier in the day, devotees continued to gather in large numbers for the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. The weather conditions did not seem to affect the footfall, which is expected to increase in the coming days, especially with the four key Shahi Snans approaching.
The Maha Kumbh Mela began on January 13 and will run until February 26. Key upcoming bathing dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
As of January 20, more than 88.1 million devotees had already taken a dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, with over 1.597 million participating on the ninth day of the Mela.
