New Delhi, June 8 — On the eve of his government completing one year in its third term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has redefined women-led development during its 11 years in power.
Taking to social media platform X, Modi said women are excelling across sectors — from science and education to sports, start-ups, and the armed forces — and are inspiring countless others.
He credited a range of welfare schemes for significantly benefiting women, citing initiatives like **Swachh Bharat** for ensuring dignity, **Jan Dhan Yojana** for financial inclusion, and **Ujjwala Yojana** for bringing smoke-free kitchens to poor households. The **MUDRA** scheme, he said, empowered lakhs of women entrepreneurs, while the **PM Awas Yojana** enabled property ownership in women’s names.
Modi also lauded the **Beti Bachao Beti Padhao** campaign for sparking a national movement to protect and educate the girl child.
A government thread shared by Modi highlighted key achievements: maternal mortality dropped to 93 per lakh live births (2019–21) from 167 (2011–13); tap water connections rose from 3.23 crore in 2019 to 15.64 crore in 2025; and over 10 crore cooking gas connections were distributed under Ujjwala.
In the lead-up to the first anniversary of NDA 3.0, Modi has been showcasing the government’s efforts for women, youth, farmers, and the poor.
