Peoples’ anger over shutdowns may make separatists spineless

    Date:

Tawi, August 4 (KIP): Amid continued Pakistan support to violence in the valley two important developments  seem to be taking some definite shape in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Even in the face of Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif raking up the Kashmir issue and alleging that violence has crept in the mind of the third generation of freedom fighters in Kashmir, the United Nations has denied having any role in the dispute adding that it has only to perform the role of an observer on the LOC and the IB in Jammu and Kashmir.

The UN has already stated that it can neither mediate nor intervene in the dispute between and Pakistan on Kashmir.

Another development, which observers believe is healthy, is in the shape of growing anger of those concerned with trade and industry against Syed Ali Shah Geelani who has been in the forefront of those separatists giving repeated calls for shutdown. While traders in the Kashmir valley connected with are said to have suffered a loss of over Rs 2,000 Crore, the ones in Jammu are stated to have suffered a loss of over Rs.1000 crores.

In fact the anger in Jammu is not against people in Kashmir but against separatists and militants who are believed to mislead people. A stage is approaching when people, especially traders and
transporters may not heed separatists' calls for hartal. Even the student community is gradually getting enraged over the closure of the educational institutions.
