All Parties delegation to listen to all and sundry in Kashmir

Date:

Tawi, September 2 (KIP): Members of the All Party Delegation continue
to be under pressure from various political parties for engaging
separatists in talks during their two-day stay in Srinagar. The
All Parties delegation members are expected to land in Srinagar on
September 4.

Even the Conference and the Congress are in favour of
talks between separatists and the delegation members from the centre.
Those who support dialogue between separatists and All Parties
delegation members want that centre to reopen the channels of dialogue
with separatists because by holding talks with mainstream political
leaders the turmoil will not end.

The visit of the All Parties delegation-would be a waste if
the leaders from the centre do not hold talks with the separatists who
seem to be behind the turmoil by extending the dates of shutdowns and
protest rallies. It is during these protest rallies that clashes take
place between the protesters and the security forces which result in
death and injuries.

Even the Rajya Sabha member and former Sadri Riyasat and
Governor of , Karan Singh has called upon New Delhi to
initiate dialogue process with separatists.

Karan Singh, the senior Congress leader said, “I feel everyone should be talked to.”

However, he said the separatists too should be ready for parleys.
“If they say we won't talk, then how will things move ahead,” said
Singh, the son of the last ruler of the erstwhile princely state. The
leader of the hardliners among the separatists, Syed Ali Shah Geelani
has indicated that he would hold talks but there should be no
photo-shoots meaning thereby that talks should move without any
fanfare.

Moderates among the separatists are keen to hold talks as
they had been doing so till 2006. But indications are that despite
difference of ideology, members of all parties delegation plan to talk
to all segments of the Kashmiri society including separatists in one
voice.
