Doda, August 16: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chhering Dorje who hoisted the national flag at Sports Stadium, Doda has urged people of Jammu and Ladakh region to maintain communal harmony.Unrest in Kashmir valley is due Pakistan says, Minister and its well planed strategy to extend it into other parts of the state to give impression to the outside world that problem confined not only in Kashmir valley.
Termed the situation in Kashmir is sensitive and passing through difficult times, Minister, Chhering Dorje said maintaining communal harmony is challenge for people as well as government and persistent efforts have been made by Pakistan to destabilized peace here in the state by communalizing situation.
In his 19 minute speech, Dorje touched a range of issues including providing road connectivity to this remote disconnected region, electricity to un-electrified areas and proper utilization of centrally sponsored schemes at grass root level.
He said, “I congratulate people of Jammu and Ladakh for maintaining peace when situation in Kashmir is fragile and it's our responsibility to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood to foil the nefarious designs of our neighbor (Pakistan) who sends terrorists to disturb peace, but they will never succeeded in their motives and they will be dealt with iron hands.”
70th Independence Day was celebrated in twin districts of Doda and Kishtwar with traditional fervour and gaiety across as functions were held at district, sub-division and tehsil headquarters. A large number of people including women and children turned up at the venues to participate in the national event amid tight security cover.
He greeted the people on this national festival and paid homage and rich tributes to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country. Recalling the importance of this day, he said that it is the duty of every citizen to preserve and protect the unity and integrity of the nation.
Legislators Shakti Raj Parihar, Dilip Parihar, Ex- MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani, Deputy Commissioner Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Zahid Manhas besides other district officers and prominent citizens attended the function.
Minister of State for Transport Sunil Sharma unfurled the national flag and inspected the guard of honor at Chowgan ground in Kishtwar.
MLC Firdoos Tak, Ex MLC Kishtwar Asgar Peer, Deputy Commissioner G.N.Balwan, DIG Doda Kishtwar Ramban range Nisar khan, SSP Sandeep Wazir, District officers, prominent citizens, general public and school children attended the programme.
Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters, the Minister said that nation owes gratitude to the great leaders who sacrificed their lives to secure freedom for the country.
Sharma listed various developmental projects taken up by in the district. He said to realize hydro electric potential of the region; the govt has sanctioned 6 new Mini Hydro Electric Projects including 4 in Chatroo and 2 in Padder areas of Kishtwar district.
He said the upcoming projects would not only provide drinking water but also upgrade irrigation facilities in the district. Similar functions were also held at all the sub divisions and Tehsils of the District where respective SDMs and Tehsildars unfurled the national flag.
