Pak violates ceasefire in Mendhar, Machil


Srinagar, November 7:  Pakistan violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing in Mendhar sector in Poonch and Machil sector in Kupwara district in and on Monday, to which the Indian forces gave a befitting reply.

Sources said that Pakistan fired gunshots and mortars towards Indian posts in the sector and the intermittent firing was underway.

Army said that they responded suitably to the ceasefire violation

“We will share details as and when received,” an Army officer said.

Police said so far, there was no report of any causality.

“But the intermittent exchange of fire from both sides in going on,” police said.

This is the 101st incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, following 's surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC) on September 29.

An Indian soldier was killed and two others suffered injuries during the ceasefire violations in Poonch district on Sunday. This came hours after an Indian soldier was killed and a civilian was injured at the RS Pura sector. Sunday's ceasefire violation took place three days after two women were killed and a child was severely injured in Manjakote sector of Rajouri district. — With Agency Inputs
