SRINAGAR: Appealing to the State Government to remove the communication gag imposed in the valley, main opposition National Conference (NC) working president Omar Abdullah today said now that curfew and restrictions have been removed in Srinagar, can the cellular service and mobile internet can be restored as well.
“Now that curfew & restrictions in Srinagar have been relaxed can we please have our mobile services & internet restored as well,” Mr Abdullah, who is the former chief minister of the State, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Abdullah was reacting to the decision of the Government to remove curfew from Srinagar, where life continued to remain suspended for the 18th day today due to strike. The NC working president's tweet got a mix response from the twitteratis, with majority of them hitting out at him, asking Mr Abdullah how he was able to tweet if internet was not working.
“Thanks for inventing new tech @abdullah_omar where your brain can send tweets without any internet connection,” a tweet said. “@abdullah_omar – wondering how were you able to tweet without the internet,” another tweet read.
