NPSU demands filling of CIC, SIC vacancies

Date:

Tawi, July 5: NPSU held a protest demonstration against state government for not filling the post of Chief Information Commissioner and State Information commissioner at state Information Commission. The activists of NPSU gathered at University gate and raised anti-government slogans and burnt the effigy of state government.

The protest was led by Thakur Virender Singh state President NPSU while addressing the media person Mr. Singh lambasted that this is really matter of concern that the state information commission is without chief Information Commissioner since long time and no initiative have been taken by state government in order to fill the vacant post of SIC. Singh added that RTI is the only tool which has strengthens the roots of democratic state by exposing the huge scams and irregularities.  This is a big question mark on the promises made by state government to bring transparency that the state information commission is without Chief Information Commission since years and no initiative have been taken to fill the said post.

Singh asked the legislatures of J&K to break the silence on this issue and the issue must be raised and solved in order to save the RTI Act.  He added that only one official is present in SIC that is Registrar State Information commission.  He is also going to retire with in short span of time, state information commission is going to be defunct.  If this issue is not going to be solved as early as it can, then very soon RTI will be on its death bed in J&K.

The others who were present in the protest included Shubam Singh, Lovely Singh, Shubam Jasrotia, Bhupinder Singh, Chetan Sharma, Prabjot Singh, Kunal Goswami, Sumit Singh, Amit Chib, Rishikesh Bhardwaj, Sumit Chib etc.
