    ‘Non-local Imams in Kashmir to create ‘Sunni-Shia’ wedge

    Srinagar, July 14, CNS: Appealing Sunni and Shia Muslims to get united at this critical juncture, Shia cleric and patron Pairwan-e-Villayat Maulana Sibte Muhammad Shabir Qami Thursday claimed that reliable sources have informed him that a group of non-local Imams have been arriving into the state to divide people on sectarian basis.

    “A group of outside state Imams (clerics) is arriving in and their sole motive and agenda is to divide the people here on sectarian lines. I appeal people of Kashmir to be united and foil their designs,” Maulana Sibt Muhammad Shabir Qami said in an Urdu statement issued to news agency CNS said.

    He said that at a time when Kashmir is painted with blood some vested interest people have become active to create a wedge between Sunni and Shia Muslims.

    Qami while expressing grief over the civilian killings appealed community to take not of the human rights violations committed by in Kashmir.
