JK Sports Council invites objections to the List of ‘eligible and shortlisted High Performance Sports Persons being called for interview.
The JK Sports Council vide No. SC/3771/3215-23 dt. 06.04.2022 published the provisional list of 61 “eligible and shortlisted candidates for interview” for final selection for 18 positions on hire and has invited objections from public at large with respect to the list in question with last date for such objections set at 18.04.2022. According to their notification, 108 candidates have applied for 18 different categories of positions from all over India including the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Jammu Kashmir Sports Council had notified hiring of manpower and invited the applications from the eligible citizens of India for ‘Khelo India State Centre of Excellence' to nurture talent in Fencing, Rowing and Water Sports at Jammu and Srinagar vide notification no. SC/3771/1810-17 dt. 30.6.2021 and SC/3771/1855-62 dt. 01.07.2021, which notification is totally contrary to the redundant promises by J&K administration of hiring locals from the UT of J&K.
A quick perusal of the selection list which is available at the JK Sports Council's official website “jksportscouncil.in” reveals that majority of the shortlisted candidates are non-locals, non-domiciles i.e. from states/UTs other than J&K, in gross violation of the assurances, given time and again by the JK Adm and Centre against the general fear of losing special rights on jobs in the UT of J&K, that now seems coming true. The Govt at Centre and the local administration of J&K has somehow managed to pull this stunt of hiring for local posts from all Indian Citizens, right beneath the noses of the unemployed local youth, who have been kept high and dry with false hope of jobs for all and only J&Kites.
The govt at the helm and the administration top brass in UT of J&K besides the promise of local job retention also assured the J&K residents of exclusivity of land ownership. But such dwindling stands on such a contentious issue of jobs and local hiring well endorsed by the aforesaid shortlist could only mean that the arbitrary discretion could win over delusion and deception. These exercises look fine at the principles of equity, equality and merit, however, have attracted criticism from sports persons both from Kashmir as well as Jammu.
