Srinagar: The State Government with financial assistance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided to construct 20125 Community Type Bunkers (CTBs) in border district of Jammu division, instead of allotting 5 malras of land to families who are the worst hit during shelling from across the border.
However, the decision to construct bunkers instead of allotting land was taken as shifting of population to another place would lead to depopulation of border areas which would not be in the states or national interest.
A question was asked in the Legislative Assembly by Kamal Verma of National Conference (NC) Member from Bishnah constituency, who wanted to know what action has so far been taken to provide 5 malras of land to each of the families, residing on the International Border (IB) in the constituency as committed by the Government.
